July 11 Rice Township police searching for store robber

RICE TOWNSHIP Police are searching for a man who robbed a convenience store early Saturday morning.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., police said, a man walked into the Uni-Mart at 200 Van Avenue and demanded money. He threatened a clerk with a gun but never showed one, police said. The man then fled the store with an undetermined amount of money.
The suspect is described as approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall, with a stocky build, medium complexion, short, dark hair and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a red long-sleeve shirt, black nylon basketball shorts and white sneakers, though police said they found the red shirt near the on-ramp to Interstate 81 North.
Rice Township Police request that anyone who saw anything suspicious, including vehicles parked along Van Avenue around the time of the incident, contact them at 332-0160.
